Christopher Palmer is an Associate Professor of Finance at the MIT Sloan School of Management where he teaches corporate finance. His academic research focuses on how consumers, credit markets, and real estate markets respond to periods of significant upheaval. His work has been published in leading academic journals, including Econometrica, the American Economic Review, The Journal of Finance, and the Journal of Political Economy. Professor Palmer has consulted on a variety of litigation matters involving consumer finance, securities, and competition and frequently speaks to the media on credit and real estate markets and regulation. He is currently a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research and an Affiliate with the Jameel Poverty Action Lab. He previously taught real estate finance and financial engineering at the University of California, Berkeley Haas School of Business and has been a Visiting Scholar at the Federal Reserve Banks of New York, Boston, and San Francisco.

Professor Palmer holds a PhD in economics from MIT.
